Countdown begins

One month from today - October 10th - I turn 60. The countdown begins! As I reach this new milestone, there are many things about which I wonder, so I shall share them with you as we progress to the big day.

Today, I wonder why there were so few comments on the last post. I know almost 100 people read it, but only a handful commented. This is an important topic and whether you agree or not with Ms Steinem, surely you have an opinion. So, thank you to those of you who replied and to those of you who didn't - why not?

I tend not to comment on too mnay political posts. I am a conserviberal and being so flaky in my on lines it os not easy to explain in a short comment my feelings of why I am liberal on some issues and conservative on others.

I personally don't think politics and religion should be taboo, in fact, quite the contrary: if you talk about your shoes, or your breakfast, or your trip to the Catskills, I'll skim the post and move on. If you tell me I ought to modify my behavior because your stupid-ass god uttered something cryptic three thousand years ago, you bet I'm going to speak up; I'm going to tell you to write your moral dictates on a brick and shove it up your ass, sideways.

Oh, and I'll hang out on October 10th, if you provide refreshments.

aw--In my case, the Steinem post is preaching to the choir. :)

I'll party with you on Oct 10! I'll even bring my own refreshments! :)

Travis,
Love the term "conserviberal". I think we're all that to a certain extent. All opinions are welcome on my blog - except the rabid ones. Not interested in attacks.

Stephen,
Totally agree! And I'll furnish cyber refreshments!

Precie,
The choir sounds good, doesn't it?

I just saw your post but I have commented now! I'm glad you put it up because I was thinking of doing so and chose not to. Instead, I have something else up on my blog!

And I am getting ready to celebrate with you next month too!!!

Probably the "preaching to the choir" thing. Plus, I found it completely distracting that so many words didn't have spaces between them. What's up with Gloria? Was she foaming at the mouth at the time, and typed so quickly she forgot to space. What?

Ello,
Loved your comment and your post. Very well said.

Chris,
HI!!!! Good to see you.

Robin,
Don't blame Gloria. I think that was my fault for a bad copy and paste job.

I'm in that choir too. :-D

I posted my thoughts on Palin here:

after reading Gloria's essay and a few others highlighted by The Womens Media Center.

Happy Birthday!

What a great choir we have!

(I assume you're all registered to vote and will be exercising your right to do so in November. Just sayin'.)
